How do you know what you want when you don’t even know who you are?

How do you know what you want
when you don’t even know who you are?

All I’ve ever seen you do is run
from pain, from life, (are they any different?)
from my words (just this once, won’t you listen?)

Did you ever think (of who you were?)
of who you wanted to be? (where are you now?)
I always saw right through you (I loved it and hated it)
There was nothing there (what did you see in the mirror?)

I don’t believe in only-one-chances (hate the concept)
but some things are better off twice untried (thrice, quadruplice…)
What do you expect me to say when you come back?
(welcome back?) I wish I could (but I’m human like you)

Inequality is the bane of life (where does justice lie?)
and people make mistakes (they don’t know who they are)
on tragic whims (they don’t know what they want)
crushing skytowers (to forgive or to forget?)
founded on heartblood and soulsweat (no tears there)

Leaving naught but scorched earth, grey oceans,
masquerades of unparalleled strength. So tell me,

How do I know what I want
when you don’t even know who you are?
